NEW DELHI / RankWire.AI / – India and Russia agreed to accelerate bilateral economic cooperation to achieve a target of $100 billion in two-way trade by 2030. Following high-level plenary sessions at the INNOPROM India 2026 industrial technology exhibition in New Delhi, officials from both governments established a shared framework to expand trade from its current baseline of approximately $60 billion. India Russia bilateral trade target set at $100 billion by 2030 as diplomatic delegations and industrial leaders move to rebalance commercial flows through non-energy sector expansion.

PM Narendra Modi shakes hands with President Vladimir Putin at BRICS Summit.

Addressing the co-chair session alongside Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov, Indian Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal outlined strategic priorities to double non-energy trade. Official data distributed through the Press Information Bureau highlights substantial growth in agricultural and processed food exports from India to Russia. Indian exports of meat products rose 170 percent from $36 million to $97 million, while marine product shipments reached $159 million, reflecting rising demand across Russian consumer markets.

The expanded commercial push focuses on diversifying product categories beyond traditional energy commodities. Both nations identified pharmaceuticals, engineering goods, automotive components, chemicals, and textiles as primary sectors for volume growth. To support bilateral capital flows, governments are fast-tracking negotiations on a new Bilateral Investment Treaty while advancing free trade agreement discussions between India and the Eurasian Economic Union.

Operational discussions focused on resolving financial and logistical bottlenecks that slow cross-border transactions. Officials confirmed ongoing work to strengthen national and local currency settlement systems, reducing reliance on third-party banking networks. Infrastructure integration along the International North-South Transport Corridor and the maritime route connecting Chennai and Vladivostok remains central to improving supply chain reliability between South Asian and Russian industrial hubs.

India Russia bilateral trade target set at $100 billion by 2030 as both governments target $50 billion in reciprocal investments across advanced manufacturing, energy, mining, and technology sectors. The priority investment mechanism currently monitors 40 active joint projects. Russian industrial entities were invited to establish manufacturing bases within India’s plug-and-play industrial corridors, while Indian firms were encouraged to expand investment footprints across Russian regional economies.

Priority Investment Mechanism Tracks Forty Joint Manufacturing Projects

Bilateral engagement expanded during high-level diplomatic talks held on the sidelines of international multilateral summits. Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Russia for the 24th India-Russia Annual Summit, an invitation accepted with dates to be finalized through diplomatic channels. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership amid shifting global trade dynamics.

Government ministries and trade promotion bodies will maintain joint working groups to eliminate tariff and non-tariff barriers. Detailed regulatory updates, bilateral trade metrics, and investment project tracking data will remain accessible through official government portals. Joint steering committees will meet periodically to assess progress toward the 2030 commercial goals.
